  • Over-the-air antenna
  • Internet streaming

Cable

Stable linear service in served areas, often bundled with Internet. Compare equipment fees, terminal count, quality, recording, post-promotion increases and vendor dependence.

Satellite

Useful in remote areas and independent of terrestrial cable, but requires sky view, secure mounting, grounding, snow access and may suffer weather attenuation. Verify dish ownership and condominium rules.

Over-the-air antenna

Can receive local stations free depending on terrain and distance. Use coverage maps, choose indoor or outdoor, avoid excessive amplification and provide grounding where required. An antenna does not provide specialty channels.

Internet streaming

Flexible and often box-free, but subscriptions add up. Check speed, data cap, latency, simultaneous streams, local sports, ads, 4K quality, recording and out-of-home access.

IPTV

IPTV describes television over IP, not automatically a legal service. Choose an authorized provider, clear contract, secure app and support. Avoid services reselling hundreds of channels without rights, requiring opaque payments or unverified apps.

Recommended architecture

Wire the main television, leave conduit or Ethernet, provide power and ventilation, do not enclose devices, and retain a simple option for local emergencies, such as radio or antenna where suitable.
